2nd Annual Christmas Tree Cutting Permit Giveaway!
Our Thanks You to You!
As a thank you to all our family, friends, and clients for your support throughout the year, we’d like to send you a tree cutting permit!
So, SAVE the DATE! Our 2nd Annual Christmas tree permit give away is nearly upon us! I know it’s only the second week of October, but we want to let you know with plenty of time to plan your Christmas tree traditions. We had so much fun last year, and we created memories that will last a lifetime.
How do you get yourself a permit? Go to our Facebook page, like/follow it and then comment on our Christmas tree permit post. Or you can call us directly, text, or email us and let us know that you want a permit. If you want your tree up by Thanksgiving, please let us know by November 15th, and we’ll mail you a Forest Service tree cutting permit that will arrive BEFORE the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. The permit is good through the end of the year and you can use it any time. We’ll also include the map of where you can go to cut the trees. Please note that the maps are for the Greenwater area, but if you plan to cut a tree elsewhere, visit the Forest Service, USDA website for more information.
Share our Facebook post with your friends and family and make it a day of fun for everyone. All they need to do is like our page, and comment or message us for their own permit.
We will have extra permits, so if you haven’t let us know by the 15th of November, don’t worry! We just know a lot of you like to have your tree up by Thanksgiving, and that’s the last day to let us know to give you the best chance of getting the permit before the weekend leading to Thanksgiving.
We recommend going earlier than later this year as snow has come to the mountains already and you’ll likely run into more than last year. Also, effective December 1, a Sno-Park permit is required for Forest Service Roads 70 and 73. These roads are located just past the town of Greenwater and before Crystal Mountain Resort. Sno-Park permits are $22 for the day.
Please know that your cell phone may not work in the areas approved for cutting.
And trees look smaller under a big sky! We made that mistake last year and had to remove the bottom portion of our tree to get it to fit in the living room. Felt a little like the Griswolds when we got it home.
Things we found handy to have with us were a shovel, saw and a rope to tie the tree to your vehicle. You may also want to take a tarp to wrap the tree in before you tie it to the roof of your car.
Getting started on your search for the tree early is a good idea too. it took us hours to find the "perfect" tree! And the sun starts to set in the Greenwater area at 4:00 PM.
Be safe, and pack emergency supplies just in case. pack some water, food and first-aid kit. We also brought homemade hot chocolate! It's so easy to make and a delightful treat.
Cut one tree per tag. Attach your tree tag to the harvested tree before placing it in (or on top of) your vehicle.
And bring a camera, the views can be amazing!
Please share your pictures with us on Facebook! We'd love to hear how your tree cutting adventure went and share in the spirit of the season with you!
Thank you for all your support this year. We are beyond grateful to all of you.
